Doja Cat brands people with blue ticks on Twitter ‘losers’

It looks like Doja Cat has no intention of paying for Twitter verification.

Earlier this month the social media platform’s CEO Elon Musk announced that ‘legacy’ checkmarks, like the blue tick verification symbol most celebrities have on their profile, will start to be phased out.

Not only does the 27-year-old rapper not seem fussed about having a blue tick, but she even said those with one are ‘more likely to be losers’. Ouch.

On April 1, Twitter confirmed it would be ‘winding down’ the use of free verification and that users wanting to keep their blue ticks could subscribe to ‘Twitter Blue’, which offers them for around $8 (£6.44) a month.

Earlier this week, one eagle-eyed Doja fan noticed that the Streets singer no longer had a blue tick on her profile, tweeting: ‘No blue tick? It’s over.’

Doja was quick to reply, saying: ‘Only Fans have blue ticks.’

When another of her 5.5million followers asked her about her profile’s missing blue tick, Doja tweeted: ‘Having a blue tick now means there’s a higher chance that you’re a complete loser and that you’re desperate for validation from famous people.’

She certainly didn’t mince her words…

Doja’s fiery social media antics come after she slammed the ‘incredibly disrespectful’ minimizing of Britney Spears’ struggles in response to comparisons of their shaved heads.

The musician made headlines last August when she unveiled a new shaved head on social media, before shaving her eyebrows off during an Instagram Live session.

A huge debate ensued at the time, with many comparing her ‘do to the Toxic singer’s highly publicized look in 2007.

Speaking in an interview earlier this year, Doja described the discussion as ‘awful’ and jumped to 41-year-old Britney’s defence.

‘It’s so incredibly disrespectful for people to be minimizing what Britney went through and make a joke out of something that was very serious and a big deal in her life. Every time I see a comment like that, I can’t compute what’s happening, other than it’s just an awful thing,’ she told Variety.
