Julia Fox has spoken out over her brother’s arrest after a shock police raid, describing him as the ‘sweetest, most gentle’ person.
Christopher Fox, 30, was taken into custody last week following a raid on his New York apartment, where officers uncovered several ghost guns – firearms without traceable serial numbers – and drugs.
Their dad was present for the raid and was also taken into custody, but only Christopher was charged after the incident.
It was claimed that the Uncut Gems actress, 33, co-signed on his $450,000 bond on Monday, meaning that he was released from Rikers Island.
Taking to TikTok, she was questioned about the incident, confessing that it had left her ‘embarrassed’.
‘My dad was released that night, it was determined that he really had no involvement and had no idea what was going on,’ Julia began, claiming that reports had been ‘a little bit sensationalized’.
‘He [Christopher] definitely was not making bombs, or, I mean – I don’t know…
‘But I can only imagine, because I know my brother and I’ve always known him to be … the sweetest, most gentle, kind, soft spoken, loves animals, loves to plant flowers, has a green thumb, loves nature.
‘I will say that both my brother and I have a lot of trauma. The difference is that I’m scrappy, I’m a fighter. I, through my aggression, was able to release a lot of that rage. Whereas, for Christopher, he internalized it.’
She added: ‘I can say the silver lining to this whole ordeal is that he’s finally going to get the help that I’ve been trying to get him for so long.
‘I wish I could say more but obviously I don’t want to damage his case or anything like that.
‘I will say that I’m just embarrassed.’
Julia has rarely spoken about her family life, but previously described Christopher as a ‘mad scientist recluse’ in an unrelated interview.
Her sibling was taken into custody after officers raided his Upper East Side flat, uncovering 3D printers and a selection of ghost guns.
During the raid, they reportedly also found unidentified pills, heroin, propane, fentanyl, chloroform, formaldehyde, pressure cookers and materials that can be used as components in explosives.
According to US outlets, Christopher was charged with the manufacturing of a machine gun, the manufacturing of a ‘rapid fire’ weapon, drug possession and weapons possession.
Authorities allegedly said that they do not believe there is a threat to the public.
‘On the morning of Wednesday, March 8, the NYPD’s Major Case Field Intelligence Team executed a search warrant … related to a specialized, long-term investigation into ghost guns and narcotics,’ a spokesperson for the NYPD told Metro.co.uk in a statement.
‘The NYPD’s Ghost Gun Team seized several ghost gun parts as well as equipment for pressing narcotics pills. Team members also discovered materials typically used as components in explosives, including pressure cookers and various chemicals, which can also be used for manufacturing narcotics.
‘Upon finding those items, the Ghost Gun Team immediately called in additional resources to help investigate and seize the items. The found chemicals were deemed non-hazardous.
‘Two individuals were taken into custody as part of a continuing criminal investigation. A full investigation is ongoing. At this time, the matter is believed to be contained, with no apparent nexus to terrorism.
‘The NYPD will continue to fight relentlessly against illegal guns – against both the steady proliferation of traditionally-manufactured firearms and the increasingly prevalent numbers of illegal, untraceable but fully functioning weapons known as ghost guns.’
