Luciano Spalletti has dismissed Pep Guardiola’s claim that Napoli are the best team in the Champions League this season.
Napoli secured their place in Friday’s Champions League quarter-final draw with a 3-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday evening.
Spalletti’s side have impressed in Europe this season, while in Serie A they currently sit top of the table and 18 points clear of Inter.
City will also be in Friday’s draw after they ran out 7-0 winners over RB Leipzig at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.
Speaking to Italian media after City thrashed RB Leipzig, Guardiola said: ‘Napoli are perhaps the best team in Europe this year.
‘In terms of playing style they’re very close to Arsenal.’
But when asked about Guardiola’s comments after Napoli’s win on Wednesday, Spalletti replied: ‘I don’t feel proud, I don’t feel anything.
‘I know this game that everyone does to put pressure on the others. Are we putting Napoli in front of Manchester City?
‘If they can spend €900 million compared to our €9 million, there must be a reason.
‘It’s a game to build us up so they can knock us down.’
