The definitive ranking of bath snacks, inspired by Margot Robbie

What food do you indulge in amongst the bubbles? (Picture: sankai)

After a long day, a hot shower or a soak in the tub is the perfect way to relax.

But Margot Robbie has revealed that she’s not content with a splash of bubble bath or a book.

Oh no, this Aussie has taken it one, iconic step further, by having a ‘beer bath’.

Speaking recently, the Wolf of Wall Street star said: ‘When I get home from work, I have a beer shower or beer bath if I have time.’

No, she’s not bathing in beer, but rather drinking a cold one while she’s lathering up.

And it turns out, the actress isn’t the only one to indulge in shower drinks and snacks.

A quick straw poll at Metro HQ revealed that we all have our go-to shower and bath snacks.

In fact, it was a divisive topic, with strong opinions on what refreshments should – and definitely should not – be allowed in the bathroom.

So, without further ado, here’s our definitive ranking of shower and bath drinks and snacks, ranked from worst to best.

10. Porridge

Mouths were left agape when one Metro writer admitted to eating porridge in the bath.

For those of us who like our baths piping hot, this warming dish felt like overkill.

And it’s not without it’s perils. If you drop those gooey oats amongst your bubbles, it’s time to pull the plug.

9. Crisps

While a handy snack to have on the go, we can’t help but feel like crisps have no place in the bathroom.

While one Metro writer was adamant that delving into a packet of Walkers made for a delicious bathing experience, there’s a high risk of a crumbs-in-the-bath situ. Plus, all the steam is sure to take the ‘crisp’ away.

There’s also something about the scent of cheese and onion that doesn’t equal ‘relaxed and refreshed’ to us.

8. Spring rolls

We can understand the appeal. A spring roll is made to be eaten with your hands, and its pastry casing should avoid any bean sprouts making an escape.

But the steamy environment of a bathroom could make for a soggy spring roll – and noone wants that.

5. Tea and biscuits

It’s a British classic: a cup of tea and a biscuit. But we have our reservations. A tea has to be brewed to individual specifications, and adding extra water from a shower into the mix could cause problems.

There’s also the steam that could cause even the hardiest of digestives to disintegrate.

Once again, we have questions about the temperature: surely a tea in a bath needs to come with a side of ice cold water?

6. Cheese

An editor here at Metro revealed that she turns her baths into a little cocktail party for one with some cubes of cheese, which she eats with a cocktail stick – often accompanied by a lovely glass of red, of course.

We have no notes. Cheese is always a good idea.

5. Chocolate

Of course, we don’t need an excuse to eat chocolate, but having a wash is as good as any.

One Twitter user proffered that the humidity actually makes the chocolate taste better.

We’re not so sure of the science behind that one, but letting that chocolate melt in your mouth while you soak sounds pretty heavenly.

4. Icecream

While we’ve learnt there are those that like the warming experience of a hot refreshment in the bath, one suggestion here at Metro piqued our interest: icecream.

Perfect if you need to cool down in a hot bath or shower, grabbing a sundae could be a great addition to your washing experience.

But approach with caution: you’re at risk of your ice-cream cone disintegrating in the water and steam, or giving your ice-cream a bath of it’s own as water pours into your bowl.

3. Strawberries

Similar to the cooling vibe of the icecream, a strawberry makes for a refreshing fruity snack.

Bitesize and easy to pop into your mouth mid-scrub, this seems like a match made in heaven. The strawbs may even compliment the scent of your fruity shower gel. Ideal.

2. Bubbles

No, not the soapy kind. We’re talking champagne with your bubble bath.

To put it simply, fizz will elevate almost any occasion, so why not pour yourself a glass as you soak? Bliss.

1. Oranges

This zesty shower experience has been all over TikTok recently, and was actually discussed in a subreddit that dates back to 2015.

The steam from the shower is said to enhance the smell of the orange, making your bathroom feel like an aromatherapy spa.

The shower also has the added benefit of washing away the sticky orange juice from your fingers as you peel. A win win.
