WWE Raw results, grades: Sami Zayn and Matt Riddle save Kevin Owens

WWE Raw ended on a high as Sami Zayn and Matt Riddle overcame travel issues to save Kevin Owens from a brutal attack.

Monday night’s show delivered in difficult circumstances with Corey Graves confirming several stars weren’t able to make the show due to issues making it to Seattle.

It appeared Sami and Riddle were two of them as they were nowhere to be seen when the main event got underway with Solo Sikoa flanked by The Usos, who had got back to winning ways earlier in the night as they battled Alpha Academy in a fantastic match.

The former champions proved why they’re one of the most beloved teams of all time, while Otis and Chad Gable shone with the crowd behind them, proving while they’re two of the more valuable stars on the roster.

In the end, that popularity wasn’t enough to get them the win, and it was the right move to have Jimmy and Jey emerge victorious after losing the gold to Sami and KO at WrestleMania.

Owens and Solo went to war in a hard hitting, back and forth main event which ended with some interference allowing The Bloodline’s enforcer to get the pin.

The three brothers went on the attack, but Sami and Riddle made it just in time to race down and save the day, potentially sewing seeds for a big six-man tag match at Backlash.

Cody Rhodes challenges Brock Lesnar, Trish Stratus betrays Becky Lynch and more

After Graves confirmed the travel issues, Rey Mysterio came out and was quickly interrupted by his son Dominik.

After a verbal back and forth covering their recent WrestleMania match, The Judgment Day’s apparent manipulation of Dom and Bad Bunny’s role in the rivalry, Rey challenged his son to a rematch.

Instead, he found himself facing Finn Balor as the former Universal Champion delivered a great opener with the Hall of Famer, and picked up a huge win after Dom cracked his dad with a steel chain.

Backstage, an interview with Chad Gable and Otis was interrupted by shouts from Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez, who had found Lita looking dizzy and unsteady after an apparent attack.

Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus quickly rushed onto the scene, and were suspicious of Liv and Raquel considering their Women’s Tag Team Title match set for the show – which was changed to have Stratus fighting in Lita’s place.

After an exciting back and forth match slightly hampered by some clunky moments of miscommunication, Liv stunned Trish with a roll-up to get the win and the gold.

There was more drama to come, with Trish turning on Becky and laying her out after the bell, cementing her villainous turn and setting up a dream match for the near future.

Backstage, Iyo Sky and Dakota Kai weren’t impressed with Bayley positioning herself for another potential shot at the Raw Women’s Title, which instead led to Iyo representing Damage CTRL against ‘Michin’ Mia Yim and Piper Niven.

Bronson Reed and Bobby Lashley fought to a double count out in a cracking big lads match, slapping and throwing each other around before producers ran out to stop them brawling at ringside.

Cody Rhodes cut a typically passionate and frankly excellent promo, addressing both his loss at WrestleMania and his beatdown at the hands of Brock Lesnar last week, ending with a challenge to face the Beast at Backlash on May 6.

After a bit of drama backstage, Iyo Sky would go onto face and beat Michin and Piper in a fun Triple Threat match to earn herself a Raw Women’s Title shot against Bianca Belair, and it’s safe to say Dakota was a much more enthusiastic with her celebration.
